MikeyD has been having a lot of ups and downs the past few days more down than up Thursday was the best day so far,
since then he has not eaten hardly anything we were hoping that he would have been able to keep eating and the feeding tube would have been removed. He was up all night Saturday night even though he did not eat anything on Saturday he was having a lot of problems with his stomach. This morning they changed his medicine to see if that would help he was out of it for most of the day but he did start to come around a little bit later this afternoon with his sisters and cousins who came to visit him he was giving them High Fives.
MikeyD also started getting his personality back in the past few days he is messing with the nurses they asked him to promise not to pull his feeding tube out the other day and now whenever they come in the room he takes his right hand grabs the feeding tube and looks right at them when they start yelling no do not take that feeding tube out he starts to smile and takes his hand down and they all start laughing.
It looks like MikeyD will be heading out of CHOP sometime next week and going to the Children's Specialized Hospital to start the next phase of this Journey we want to bring him closer to home,
we will let you know what day when we know for sure.

OK, I am going to pray that today (Monday, Columbus Day) is a very UP day! I am so glad to read that he's being a 'stinker' with the nurses!! And glad that you'll get to move forward on this healing process and leave CHOP. I pray and hope that Mighty MikeyD will soon be able to say a few words (I am sure all the doctors and staff at CHOP would love that too). Every day, every hour, every minute you are all in our thoughts and prayers and we are sending lots of love and healing energy to you!

ReplyDeleteSeeing Mikey D on Saturday was so up lifting, He looked fantastic even when he was uncomfortable. I thank God St Anne, St Jude the healing mass and everyone who is sending prayers Mikey D way. He continues in our prayers, His smile was wonderful to see, Mighty Mikey D has a long way to go, As he starts his next step to a full recovery he continues to be in our prayers, along with the rest of the family. ReplyDeleteI have some information for you from a dear and trusted doctor friend of mine in Florida... He wrote to me after seeing a post on facebook. Here is what he wrote; "Anyway, I saw your post on facebook and want to respond. I feel so bad for the little guy. I hope he will be okay but this may help.
There is a place but it's not a place it is a procedure that is working very successfully for "some" stroke victims. I have personally experience with it's great success. The procedure is this...the doctors are using Embrel, injected paraspinally. It is an injectable drug used to treat arthritis but a doctor here in Boca Raton, Florida discovered that if you inject it in close to the spine for people with brain damage it reverses it in some cases. By some unknown mechanism this causes the drug to pass through the "blood brain" barrier and have a positive effect on brain damage. A friend of mine got a wheelchair bound stroke victim walking up and down staircases again with it. It's nothing shy of a miracle for some and it is worth a try for the young man. If it works you will know within 2-3 treatments and you will know if he responds right of way. Hopefully he will!"
