A lot of you have been telling me
there is a message here.
I keep looking and listening every
day for what that message is.
I do know that I have two real true heroes
in my life one is my little son Mighty Mikeyd and the other is my little
brother Seamus known to some of you as James. Seamus is Gaelic for James same
thing,
I do not know what the message here
is but I listen and look for it every day, A lot of people have always said
that Seamus and MikeyD looked alike and had the same personality and are a lot
alike in many ways. I do not know what the message here is but I will continue
to try and find it every day,
I do hope and pray that Mighty
MikeyD will come back as fast and furious as my brother Seamus did after he
bled out in the street,
Lieutenant Seamus
Doherty is the Commanding Officer of the 90th
Precinct Detective Squad. He aspired to return to full duty after being nearly
killed while riding his motorcycle in a hit-and-run accident .
The accident took his left leg off his body in the street, shattered his
femur, fractured his elbow and dislocated his shoulder, causing massive blood
loss that required Lieutenant Doherty be resuscitated en route to the hospital.
After returning to New York he underwent several surgeries and learned to walk
with a prosthetic leg, completing an NYPD physical agility test only 14 months
after the accident that nearly took his life. Since then, he has earned
promotions to sergeant, lieutenant, and lieutenant commander detective squad.He received the President Roosevelt Award from the NYPD among many other Awards.
He is now the lieutenant Commanding officer of Brooklyn detective squad and Hostage negotiator. A few weeks ago a man
was going to commit suicide jumping off a building my brother was called out as
the negotiator he talked the man down by telling him the story of his nephew
who was fighting for his life at CHOP in Philly. Mighty MikeyD has already
saved one life I hope he somehow continues to save a lot more. Both he and
Seamus are my heroes.

We Pray everyday Mike. I wish I could tell you why if I knew I would. Seamus made it through and so will Mikey D. I hope and pray it will be a speedy recovery as it was for your brother. Remember Mike, Mikey D, Moya, Ciera and Julia has everybody standing behind you. I believe the prayers are working. It may not be much comfort at this time but MIGHTY MIKE has come a long way. Yes he still has a long tough road to travel. Try to find some comfort in two things. After being down for 35 minutes he is still with us, second you were told he would never use his upper body, Look at him he is. Mikey is strong and determined and will come back. We all feel pain over this but cannot imagine your pain. Please try to stay strong, Mikey needs you more now then ever. God Bless
ReplyDeleteThose are 2 great heros and I am sure that your MikeyD learned alot from his Uncle, and he will follow in his footsteps and he will fight the good fight and he will do everything he can do to get up and tell you lets go home...I see him fully recovered..I see him completely healed..I see him playing basketball..Looking for a message here? to find strength in others when you have no more strength yourself,
to forge ahead no matter how long the distance before you,
to believe that there is a reason to keep going, even when you feel you can not go any further,
to accept what has been given you, even when you feel it is the most unfair thing you've ever been asked to embrace,
to shoulder the burden that has been placed upon you, for the sake of those around you,
to find solace in the miracle that is this child you helped give life to 12 years ago, and hear the music that is in every breath he takes,
to make sense of how your life has been redefined, and that what is important has changed, and will continue to evolve, even as your other life gets further and further away, and the time now becomes The Time Before It All Happened, and the Time After, and you wonder when you will sleep in your own bed, and when you will be able to once again enjoy your old routines, and when you will see your family together again in your home, and coming to grips with the fact that that time may be further from you than you want it be, than you need it to be,
to be humbled by the power and the will of something greater than we will ever be,
to know that when all else fails, there is love, and God is Love, and His hand has reached down to you and helped you up even when you didn't know it was there, and that that simple thing, that Love will be all you have, will be all we will have, when we need it most.

DeleteWow, I was overwhelmed when I read your post yesterday morning. You have at least two amazing heroes in your family!! And what you are going through right now is so very exhausting - emotionally and physically - but it sounds like little miracles are occurring all around you. I can not say it as eloquently as the comments above, but I pray for you and your entire family to embrace and celebrate all the wonderful and positive steps that Mighty MikeyD has made so far! Keep fighting to get ALL well MikeyD! We miss you and want you to come home!!
ReplyDeleteI met some of your wonderful friends yesterday at St. Catherine's! I'm looking over at Bobby and he's sporting his "Shooting 3's for Mighty MickeyD" t-shirt {he couldn't play, but I got him a shirt anyway!!}

ReplyDeleteI went to the three point shoot out. I was thinking about you when I was shooting baskets. Sadly, I only made 3 out of 20 baskets.
Mr. Doherty, my dad wanted me to pass along a message. He works near New Brunswick and wanted you to know that he is available to pick up something or drive home someone anytime.
Dear Mike, I struggle to find my own voice. I want you to know that you, your family, and little Mikey are in my prayers daily. I pray for healing, I pray for strength, I pray for perseverance. I know that God has a plan and your suffering is not in vain. It may not be clear now, but in time it will be. My message to you is never give up hope, never stop believing, and never ever stop praying.
