MikeyD is starting to talk. he is really trying hard he started out on Wednesday trying real hard to say some words at speech therapy Melissa and Jennifer were working with him together they laid him on a therapy table and Mellissa massaged his vocal cords while Jennifer sat over him and had him trying to breathe and say the alphabet he then tried saying Mom. When he got to CHOP on Thursday he started saying some words to Dr.Vetter and Meredith from CHOP we did not want to say anything yet because he was trying to speak a few times before and nothing was ever said again. Last night when my Mom came to visit MikeyD she came in and started talking to him for a while and as he was smiling at her and all of a sudden out of nowhere he said Hi Nanny I Love you !!!
My Mom started crying tears of Joy !!!
Even though it was long and slow and does not sound like him yet he sounds kind of like a computer voice his speech is definitely coming back after 2 months and one week !!!
We are all so very happy .
Peggy please do not stop praying yet not until MikeyD can say I am healed !!!

Oh Mike that is such amazing news. The fact that he had that thought & was able to verbalize it is huge'! Mikey D is always in our prayers. I'm hoping that once the casts are off his legs the muscles spasms will be easier to care for & hopefully go away altogether. We hope to come back & visit again soon.

I also MUST add that for weeks we've been trying to lift Mikey and Doherty family up in their time of need.....NOW unaware of the trying times we've been through, MIKEY HAS LIFTED US UP!!! This great news seems to have eased the despair of hurricane Sandy...We now have a reason to celebrate!!! A miracle to believe in, good news to share with others...THANK YOU MIKEY YOU HAVE LIFTED MY SPIRITS.....

ReplyDeleteGod of all creation, You who spoke a simple command and brought forth light from the darkness, I ask You now to send forth Your miracle-working power to heal our MikeyD. You cleansed the lepers, opened the eyes of the blind and by speaking a simple command, You empowered the crippled to rise up and walk.
You sent forth Your life-giving power to all those in need, including those You raised from the dead.
I ask You to send forth Your healing power into MikeyD's body and give MikeyD the strength to fight this illness. I ask this through my Lord, Jesus Christ, Your Son, who lives and reigns with You and the Holy Spirit, one God, for ever and ever. Amen.

We give all the Glory and Honor to our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. I can't say I have cried often at Walmart, but I did today. When Mike told me his son began to speak I couldn't help but smile and cry at the same time. Imagine when the person said to Christ "Can you raise Lazurus"? Christ just looked at him and said "Can I ?"
ReplyDeleteWhen we're tempted to feel sorry for ourselves about our struggles, just think what our friends, the Doherty's are going through? Then, just when it looks like things aren't moving along, here comes a miracle! I knew that if Mikey was groaning that there was hope for Mikey to speak again. The Lord is answering all of our prayers for MikeyD. Let us all get on our knees tonight to thank him. James 4:10 says "Humble yourselves before the Lord and he will lift you up". I will be on bended knee to show my humility and thank him for his grace. I ask you all to join me. There is great power in prayer, humility, and obedience. Thank you Lord!

We have missed reading about MikeyD and his recovery and now that we have power back we are soooo happy and inspired by MikeyD to read that he is beginning to speak. Words can't express how happy we are for all of you. Everyones' prayers for MikeyD continue and it is truly a blessing to hear about his progress. He is always in our thoughts and prayers.
