we spoke to the doctors today they are going ahead with the surgery on Wednesday morning even though he has the blood clots in his left arm in spite of the fact that I am worried I do have faith in all the doctors, nurses and the rest of the medical staff here at CHOP they are by far the best. MikeyD had another busy day of therapy when Speech therapy came in today and asked him if he wanted an Ice-Pop unfortunately he nodded no I was very surprised because he enjoyed that little taste so much yesterday. The doctors think the pain he has for the past few days could be from the feed they started him on a few days ago this was being fed through a feeding tube and was the first feed he had since being in the hospital so they turned it off for now I hope that is it. I cannot imagine how weak and hungry this little boy must be he used to eat 4 cheeseburgers at one sitting. When PT came in today to put him in the tilt chair he did stand up for a minute weight bearing on his own two feet while she held him in her arms and asked him if he wanted to dance another small major step. All of us hope and pray that he will speak to us soon I long to hear his voice and have him be able to tell us what he is feeling so we might be able to make him more comfortable. Just so everyone know his sisters Julia and Ciara along with a few of his cousins Erin, Brendan, Bridget, Liam and Charlie designed and ordered Mighty Mike bracelets with his favorite colors red and blue with Mighty Mike in white they are going around Middletown schools selling them for $1.00 a piece this was all done by them on their own and it is being done as charity any money that they make from the sale of the bracelets is being donated to the Ronald Mc Donald House.

Please tell Mighty Mike (I love that!!) that he is going to be an inspiration to hundreds of thousands of people!! Anyone who knows him, knows that he's got the spirit and the fight inside him to keep healing and feeling better day by day. We continue to pray for him and send positive energy to him and to his fantastic family!

But I can see that awesome kid playing and dancing and hollering and all those wonderful things ... it will take time, but I know Mighty Mike is going to come through all this and get back to being a kid!

ReplyDeleteThanks so much for keeping all of us informed. We cannot imagine what you're entire family is going through. I believe that Mikey will make a full recovery. It's never going to happen in the time frame we want, but it'll happen. His body is strong, he has incredible will, and the best medical care in the world. Just keep your faith and realize that it's going to take some time.

Steve Colentino, Andy Botari, and the whole Upwards Basketball group have kept us up to date on MikeyD. He is constantly in our prayers. We will continue to pray for the medical staff at CHOP especially for tomorrow as they operate. Cling to Jesus during these trying times. He is the Great Physician, and we are praying for a miracle! In all things we rejoice because God's love is so good and to know Jesus bring true hope that goes beyond understanding!
