Mighty MikeyD had a great Christmas and New Year. he received a lot of presents, one of the best presents he received was today. Aunt Jean Marie came over and gave MikeyD a present from his basketball team and the Williamson’s. It was a football signed by Eli Manning. Mikeyd was so happy he was smiling like we had not seen him smile in a long time. He then showed aunt Jean Marie his signed Basketballs from Kansas and Rhode Island now he thinks he is a hero. The funny thing is he has a favorite player in every sport his favorite football player is Peyton Manning he used to be a Colts fan and now he wears the Bronco's jersey he got for Christmas. He said do you believe that Eli Manning Peyton's brother signed this football for me. I told him we are going to write a letter to Peyton and let him know that his brother Eli signed a football just for you and ask him to sign another one for you. He wants me to order a special case to preserve his signed football. It is really amazing how happy that signed football gift made him feel today. Thank you so much. Tonight when we came into the family room we had a message on the answering machine. When I played the message it was from a collection company looking for money from something the insurance company would not pay for. MikeyD was sitting with me and he heard the message. He looked at me and asked me what that call was about. I said nothing it was just a call about insurance. MikeyD looked at me and said I am really sorry Dad . I asked him what are you sorry about? He said I am sorry that I went to the hospital I know it cost you millions of dollars. That broke my heart I was holding back tears can you imagine after all the pain and suffering he is going through little MikeyD is telling me he is sorry that he went to the hospital. Even suffering from a TBI he is worried about us. God Bless Mighty MikeyD !!!

MikeyD is an amazing young boy who has a heart filled with LOVE..The Doherty Family is filled with lots of LOVE..We see it and we witnessed that during this journey..God is LOVE..so we see GOD in this too..The Miracles and healings are such a JOY to witness..I thank God for letting me be a part of it..Thank you for posting..(I am also praying for a Bryce Miracle now..He is in the service..was in a car accident and is in a coma..He is still just laying there hopefully healing little by little his Mom is by his side and she posts the way you did..Lots of people praying all over the world..all of us Navy Moms..I pray we can witness another Miracle the way we did here with MIkeyD..Bryce is only 21. ) MikeyD I am so happy to hear of your great big smile when you Christmas present was so special..and I pray you not worry about the cost of the hospital bills..We as a community will be there for the Doherty Family..You guys have nothing to worry about..We can do fundraisers..we can all chip in..we can go to Middletown Helps Its Own or other organizations..WE will help in anyway we can..Mighty MikeyD Miracle-PRICELESS!!!! WE ALL LOVE YOU MIKEYD and we will all stay right here until YOU are completely Healed and every bill is paid..so keep focused on getting out there to play with your friends..they are waiting for you!! Lord Jesus thank You for this Miracle..We REJOICE and we Praise Your Holy Name..WE glorify YOu and WE continue to pray for Your Grace and for Your Protection. Keep Healing OUr MikeyD..and guide us as community to help our neighbor our friend our Loved One..Thank You JESUS!

Not to worry about the the small things let's concentrate on the big things. The important things like friends,family,faith,health and recovery....and most of all MIRACLES!! ReplyDeleteWhat's beautiful about MikeyD's comments is it demonstrates to me his high cognitive ability. I would be encouraged to hear everything that is on his mind. The bills are the bills, they're going to get paid. Here's what I know, there isn't a single MikeyD supporter that wouldn't give him every dollar they could to make him heal. I promise you that when this is over I will lead the effort to getting his bills taken care of. Please don't stop writing down everything you can. This young man is an incredible inspiration to us all. He is a living testament to how much Grace our Lord provides.

One of my friends from church just gave me this info which may be of some help. I personally just wouldn't pay the collection agency. Companies should be satisfied with what the insurance companies pay them. Here's the info:
I just saw in the Mikey D blog about the collection agency. There is a NJ Catastrophic Illness
Children's fund. They must be aware of it, but you might want to pass this link on to them.

No price in the world could pay for Mikey being the miracle boy among us! Thank God he and our boys still appreciate ! It's rare these days.

ReplyDeleteWhat an amazing present for MikeyD. I think he will need a big case because I bet he will get more than just the Manning brothers' signatures over time.
It's amazing how well he is recovering. It's amazing and saddening that he is worried about the collections agencies. I didn't follow the link you got given below but I do know that health providers often try to recover additional money than that received from the insurer (because they agreed lower rates). I wouldn't ignore it in case it dings your credit but I would fight them and tell them you are not paying.
But don't lose one wink of sleep over them. You guys got your priceless gift back. It's not just MikeyD ... you got your family back together... all because of the amazing strength and drive of MikeyD's very special parents. You guys need a big round of applause from everyone for the fight you took on last September. If this isn't teamwork I don't know what is. It's amazing to witness it.
It's a privilege to participate in this in some small way.
MikeyD is worth every single cent and more that this whole experience has cost. And we already see that the education and awareness coming out of this is saving lives. There is no price on what the effect of this will be on many lives.
Whatever you need from your friends to overcome the BS from these agencies.. just ask and we are there.
