Mighty MikeyD is doing it again more greats news and another
Miracle.
MikeyD started
taking some steps this week and is now able to walk even with the casts on his
legs if you help balance him.
He has a pair of
shoes on his casts and with assistance if you stand behind or on
the side and hold him to help him keep his balance he can walk.
Last week when
Anthony and Barbara came to visit him he was able to take a few small steps.
Last night Ciara came to visit MikeyD she walked alongside him and walked
him around the floor. Today when Sean came to see him he was able to push
Sean down the hall in his wheelchair. Another sign that all your prayers
are working please keep praying. I spoke to the physical therapist today about
the casts next week he will be getting a pair of removable casts that you can
take off and on this will be the last of the cast.
The week after he will be wearing the braces and they will be
working with getting MikeyD on the road to walking on his own again.We were
asking about taking MikeyD home for Christmas day and
now because of the amazing recovery that MikeyD is making in the
past two weeks we are allowed to take him out of the hospital for a few hours
tomorrow on a day pass it will be great for him after being in the hospital
these last few months to get out in the fresh air we will now be able to take
him out every Sunday for a few hours. This morning when I was standing over his
bed getting ready to feed him his breakfast he looked at me and said Dad how long
have I been in the hospital for four years now I said no and before I
could tell him how long he said five years I tried to explain that it was going
on four months. I felt so bad for him as I tried to explain the time line to
him because it does feel like four years to Moya, Julia, Ciara and myself as well.
Keep the faith. We believe in Miracles !!!

This young man is a miracle. I always suspected that God would allow MikeyD to use this experience to Glorify God. This is living proof in miracles, the power of prayer, and his mercy and grace. Because MikeyD went through what he has my wife did an EKG at the Doctor's office with our 14 & 15 year olds this last week. Below is her email to his teammates from Basekball.

I took CJ to the cardiologist today and it was good news but not great news yet. According to his test results he has atrial bigeminy which basically is a premature or extra heartbeat. A few more tests need to be completed to rule out any structural defects, ARVD, etc He has a stress test tomorrow morning and has to wear a holter device that will track his heartbeat for 24 hours (and have a lipid panel). Once the findings from the holter device have been reviewed (it will take 5-10 business days) he will either be cleared or an MRI will be necessary. To be cleared, he has to not have bigeminy more than 15% of the day. He is not cleared to play basketball. I have to say the boy was crushed. :-) I on the other hand was thrilled to hear the words "benign begeminy." If it is bigeminy, then it requires exercise to help keep the heart regular. One thing I will say, this was not detectable with a doctors stethoscope. Neither his regular doctor (who delivered him and sees him every year) nor his cardiologist could pick up the extra beat. I planned on the kids having an EKG with their wellness exam and I am glad I made the choice. Thank you for your kind words and prayers. God is good.

He has since been cleared, but others weren't so blessed. Looks are deceiving. CJ is the epitomy of health, yet had this lurking under the surface.
Mike & Moya, we pray for you every night so that the Lord will give you the strength to continue on this journey. God Bless you both for doing all you have done to alert many of us who otherwise would have never known to have our kids checked out so closely.

ReplyDeleteMiracles are happening daily there Mike. MikeyD has the will of so many people urging him on. There is no doubt in my mind that some day soon MikeyD will walk on his own, no casts needed. Everything else will just fall into place. We are rooting for MikeyD and all of you as a family always. Ciara and Julia are always in our thoughts. Hopefully we will see ye soon!
