Monday Night




Mighty MikeyD keeps getting stronger and better every day. it really does seem like the Cog rehab speech therapy occupational therapy and physical therapy are working. Last week MikeyD went to an Upward  basketball game at New Monmouth Baptist church he use to play basketball there as well. you should of seen the reception that they gave him there. You  could tell from Steve and Andy how happy everyone was to see him walk in the gym. They made an announcement that is was a championship game and they said  a champion just walked in the door.it was very nice and uplifting for MikeyD to be there and be treated so well when Steve's wife Megan heard he was there she came specially to see him. More proof that the power of prayer works everyone at New Monmouth Baptist has been and continues to pray for MikeyD's recovery and we thank all of you. Mighty MikeyD has been really enjoying his new puppy that he named Peanut he spends half his time between peanut and his new Ipad. The Puppy has been one of the greatest things for him it is amazing what a pet can do for someone in need. You can see in the picture above how good the two of them get along. What also really impressed me last week when MikeyD got his new Ipad the first thing he said to me after we set it up is we need to download some educational App’s talk about a miracle. He is now playing  math bingo as well as a bunch of other educational games. As a reminder if anyone has kids playing sports please get them screened especially if they play basketball. Tragedy struck North Carolina  two weeks ago when Josh Level, one of the state’s most promising young basketball players, collapsed during a time out with only three minutes left in the game and he died shortly after that. Let us all say a prayer for Josh and his family. May he rest in peace. This is happening more and more some  can be from dehydration some can be from  long QT syndrome a few more have happened  in between since I posted the last one. I hear about more than you do because of thing I am involved with now. So please get your kids screened. I know a few families from Middletown have been to CHOP I hear about it when I speak to the doctors. I know one family who have taken their daughter and they met with Dr.Naim when she told them the story of mighty MikeyD they all got the chills Dr. Naim agreed that he is truly a miracle in sneakers. If anyone does have their kids screened and find out they need a specialist just let me know if you need help getting an appointment at CHOP and I will do everything I can to help. Youth Heart Watch mission

The mission of Youth Heart Watch is to prevent sudden cardiac death among children and adolescents by placing automated external defibrillators (AEDs) in schools, recreation centers and other public places.

An AED is a lightweight, portable device that delivers an electric shock through the chest to change an abnormal heart rhythm to normal.
Youth Heart Watch is an affiliate of Project ADAM. (Automated Defibrillators in Adam's Memory), a private, not-for-profit program initiated through Children's Hospital of Wisconsin. The program was created in 1999 in honor of Adam Lemel, who died at age 17 from cardiac arrest while playing basketball.
Youth Heart Watch aims to have an AED placed in every school in Pennsylvania, New Jersey and Delaware and provide training and education for students and staff. The hope is that lives will not only be saved through the use of AEDs, but through increased awareness of the warning signs that precede sudden cardiac arrest and the risk factors for this condition.

  2. Mikey and Peanut look so adorable together!!! A boy and his dog!!! May they have many healing moments together!!! Thank You Lord for the prayer warriors at New Baptist Church!! And calling MikeyD a champion is so true..He is a Champion..Me and my MikeyD went to Cheeburger Cheeburger tonight and he said to me..Mom, how does MikeyD do it?" we talked about how brave he is ( taking the needle in his stomach and telling the nurse he has to take it like a man) relearning everything in school, trying so hard to relearn so much and he does it with a smile..then Mikey said "Mom I dont think I could do it" MikeyD is AMAZING..a fighter, a HERO here among us..a Miracle in our lives..Thank You Lord for Healing our MikeyD..Lord, May Josh Level and Adam Lemel be in the Light of Your Presence and May their families be comforted by the Love You surround them with. May they know that death is not an end but a beginning of Eternal Life..not gone..still here in the hearts of those who loved them..Lord You are the Comforter..Thank you Mike for getting this information out to us so that we can get our children screened and we can help spread the word of how we need automative defibrilators in place..Lord, we lift up MikeyD to You , please continue to heal him..help him with all he needs to do..on his road to complete recovery..We thank You Lord, for his beautiful voice that we can hear today..we thank You Lord for allowing him to be home..walking..talking..laughing..WE REJOICE LORD because You heard our cries..You answered our Pleas..YOU WERE THERE and we KNOW you NEVER LEFT HIS SIDE..Thank You Lord!   3. Hey MikeyD and family,

    It made me so over-the-moon to see/meet you and your family (well half of your family) at the Upward game. Like I told your dad, "wild horses couldn't get me back to that gym." I was so tired that Saturday. But then I heard you were there and all my strength came rushing back and then some. your enthusiasm is contagious.

    It was God's perfect timing that brought you there on game 7. The week where various people in the league (coaches, parents, referees, etc.) share what God has done in their life. How HE has changed them. And here you come strutting into the gym at our final game. It was definitely the grand finale of testimony. I'm so thankful to our dear Lord and Savior for what He is doing in your life. This town needs a revival and it looks like He picked the perfect candidate to be a leader in that charge. God is changing one heart at a time and what a priviledge that He chose you to be part of that great commission. I'm so glad to walk next to you to share that God is alive and desiring our hearts to be open to Him.

    If your dad stops posting...I will be sad. Not only will I miss hearing about your constant progress and all the amazing things your are doing, but I will miss "The Dunne Family" posts. They have been so uplifting with their prayers, notes and faithfulness. what good friends to have.

  6. Peanut is beautiful!!!!! We continue to pray for you all. We love the updates!!!! I am sorry that we are unable to attend the event this coming Saturday. Please know that even though we can't be with you we pray and think of you!!!! Persevere Mikey D!!!!!!

  7. Happy St. Patrick's Day Mighty MikeyD and the entire Doherty Family!!! It is truly a blessing that our prayers were answered and The Miracle in Sneakers is still working hard and fighting the good fight! You and your family are so very inspirational to me and so many others. MikeyD is certainly a Champion and I pray that he continues to feel the LOVE of this community! You are such a great kid - Barbara Amodeo was telling a great story about you just last night! And Mike - YOU TOO are a Champion for keeping people focused on the need for screening and the various organizations (that I would know nothing about if not for you) that are out there helping to save lives and prevent another tragedy. I am so grateful that you have maintained this blog - it has helped me in my faith and in knowing that prayer and positive energy can result in miracles that the world's greatest doctors can not explain. Keep soldiering on Mighty MikeyD! You are AMAZING!! We will keep praying and sending our love to you and your wonderful family! And may the Luck of the Irish be upon you!!
